Most festive print goes wrong the same way: artwork is signed off a week before the occasion, production queues are already full, and the banner turns up after the sale has started. Festive season marketing in Malaysia rewards businesses that plan backwards from the date. This calendar lists the 2027 occasions that matter to retailers, F&B operators and event organisers, what to print for each, and when to order it. It sits under our complete event branding guide.

How to use the order-by dates

"Order by" means artwork final and order placed — not the day you start designing.

  • Standard pieces (banners, roll-ups, stickers, bunting): 2–3 weeks before installation.
  • Large or multi-piece jobs (stage backdrops, pop-ups, a full shopfront): 4–6 weeks.
  • Around public holidays, add a week — production and couriers slow down around CNY, Raya and Christmas.
  • Islamic dates (Ramadan, Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Hari Raya Haji) are confirmed by the official moon-sighting announcement. Plan to the expected date and keep artwork undated.

December to March: the back-to-back stretch

In 2027 three seasons nearly overlap: year-end dinners run into January, CNY lands on 6 February, and Ramadan is expected to begin two days later. If your customers span communities, you may need CNY and Ramadan pieces up in the same week, so brief both in December.

Annual dinners and D&Ds

Ballrooms fill from late November into January. An 8×8ft fabric backdrop handles the photo wall for most companies; stage sizing and hotel setup windows are in our annual dinner backdrop guide.

Chinese New Year

Shopfront décor goes up in early January, so finalise artwork by mid-December. The core kit: vinyl window stickers, a free-standing 2×5ft bunting with pole and base at the entrance, a promo banner and cookie packaging — full countdown in our Chinese New Year retail printing checklist.

Ramadan and Hari Raya

Bazaar traders get squeezed: CNY orders fill late January and CNY holidays land right before Ramadan. Order stall banners and flags by mid-January — see our Ramadan bazaar stall guide. For Raya open houses, order a photo backdrop by mid-February.

April to July: use the quiet months

Smaller occasions, calmer lead times. Run Mother's Day, Father's Day and mid-year promotions with evergreen pieces plus a small dated sticker. Service your kit (roll-up mechanisms, faded outdoor banners) and order Merdeka pieces by July.

August to December: Merdeka to year-end

Merdeka and Malaysia Day are 16 days apart, so one national-theme set can serve both; check any guidelines on displaying the Jalur Gemilang first. In 2027 Mid-Autumn falls beside Malaysia Day, so mooncake packaging competes for the same weeks. Start CNY 2028 planning in November: it falls in late January, nearly two weeks earlier, so everything moves forward.

Build a kit that lasts more than one season

  • Keep expensive pieces undated — no year, no zodiac animal. Put dates on a small sticker or a budget PVC banner.
  • Separate frames from graphics. Backdrop frames, roll-up bases and bunting poles last for years; only the print changes.
  • Store dry. Humidity breeds mould on anything packed away damp. Air pieces out and roll rather than fold — more in our reusable display tips.

Frequently asked questions

When should I start planning festive marketing in Malaysia? Six to eight weeks ahead for anything multi-piece. For CNY 2027, brief your artwork in early December.

Are Ramadan and Hari Raya dates fixed? No. Published dates are expectations until the official moon-sighting announcement, so keep artwork undated and build in a few days of slack.

What festive print can I reuse every year? Frames and stands, plus graphics without a year or zodiac animal, such as generic greetings in brand colours.

What if I'm already late? Prioritise one high-impact piece — a pole bunting at the entrance or a window sticker — in a standard size, and approve artwork the same day. See the banner range.
