"Banner" covers very different materials, and ordering the wrong one means a sagging, torn, or washed-out display. Here is how to choose.
PVC — the all-rounder
PVC banners are the default for most indoor and short-term outdoor use: durable, waterproof, and inexpensive. Add eyelets and rope and you can hang one almost anywhere. For longer outdoor exposure, a UV-printed PVC banner resists fading in strong sun far better than standard ink.
Mesh — for wind
A solid banner outdoors acts like a sail; in a gusty spot it bends poles or tears at the eyelets. Mesh banners have tiny perforations that let wind pass through, which is why they are used on building hoardings and fences. The trade-off is a slightly softer image, so keep mesh for big, simple designs viewed from a distance.
Fabric — for premium indoor looks
Fabric banners and backdrops are dye-sublimation printed, giving rich colour with no glare — ideal for photo walls, stage backdrops and exhibition booths. They fold into a bag without creasing permanently and feel far more premium than vinyl. They are not for rain.

- Indoor display or short outdoor run: PVC.
- Long-term outdoor / strong sun: UV-printed PVC.
- Windy or fenced outdoor site: mesh.
- Backdrop, photo wall, premium feel: fabric.
Finishing matters too
