A roll-up banner is the cheapest way to look professional at an event — but only if the artwork is built right. Here is the short, practical guide.

Standard sizes

The most common pull-up width is 85cm, with 100cm and 120cm for a wider presence. Our standard roll-up covers the everyday case; the premium roll-up uses a sturdier base and anti-curl film for repeated use, and the mini roll-up is made for tabletops and reception counters.

Mind the base

The single most common mistake: important content disappearing into the base. The bottom 8–10cm of the artwork rolls into the cassette and is never seen standing up. Keep logos and text above that zone.

The visible window

People read a roll-up from about 2–3 metres away. Design from the top down:

  • Top third: logo + headline. This is what carries across a hall.
  • Middle: one supporting message or product shot.
  • Bottom (above the base): website, QR code, a short call to action.

Bleed, safe area, resolution

  • Bleed: extend the background 10–20mm beyond the trim on all sides.
  • Safe area: keep text 15–20mm inside the edges.
  • Resolution: 100–150 DPI at full size. Vector logos stay crisp at any size; export photos at full dimensions, not stretched thumbnails.
  • Colour: CMYK, and avoid pure 100% black for large fills — a rich black (e.g. C40 M30 Y30 K100) looks deeper.

File format

Supply a print-ready PDF with fonts embedded (or outlined). Full requirements are on our output specs page. Get the file right once and the same artwork can be re-printed for every show.
